"This is an example of a "perfect throw" as thrown from the left. It works from the right as well, just mirror the angles.
I worked this out yesterday and so far it works no matter what distance the pokemon is from you. (adjust your trajectory [red line] for the new position of the outer ring)
Don't think of the shrinking ring as a timer, think of it as a bullseye, showing where you need to hit for the best results.
1.) Spin the ball counter-clockwise (clockwise if throwing from the right) until it sparkles.
2.) Drag your finger quickly along the red line which touches the outer circumference of the bullseye. This is because the circumference is relative to the distance of the Pokemon. No matter how far away it is this system will always work if done right
3.) Release your finger from the screen as soon as it is directly under the bullseye point.
Fingers are big so there there is some room for error. This will not always result in "excellent" appearing on screen but it will ALWAYS result in the pokeball landing successfully on the pokemon if you follow these steps correctly!"
