Confirming that most Gamestops did in fact get their shipments delayed, I had a bunch of customers asking me yesterday and we were supposed to get them EARLY. Nintendo's problem with allocation though, not GS's.

Blurg. It sucks they're making us go to Gamestop to get the code. :/ I'll be super pissed if they make me preorder the game to get the item.

I visited a Gamestop on Sunday (the day before the promotion was set to start) and the person staffing the store said she hadn't received the standee or the code cards in yet, which was odd because they were usually there before the day they were supposed to go up. :/ So it sounds like they're late.

I haven't checked at my store yet, we just got a new manager and all but I'd wager that he'd be on top of it if we got everything for it. S.O.P is normally we get the stuff for that in time for the event, our store has a rep from Nintendo who hand-delivers the stuff if it's small enough. Other times we get the stuff in from shipments.

Also, as an employee of GameStop, I can tell you that a preorder isn't required, at least in the store I work it isn't. So Prop, If they try and pull that stunt on you, I'm kinda tempted to have you call me so I can chew them out over speaker phone for being the shameless and sleazy GAs that should stop blindly following all the crap they try to teach us in our training guides and then I can threaten to report them to corporate (always wanted to do that by the way). But that may be because I had a manager that stressed customers first, everything else second, and shameless sales tactics last.

Seriously though, if they try that stunt, ask to speak with a manager, if the manager tries continuing the charade, then just report the store. I've seen some GAs from other stores try crap like this with other exclusive stuff to fluff their pre-order numbers, but at the same time their managers would string them up and fire them if they caught wind of it.

Update: Nintendo has codes they will just give out if you call them.

Double posting because it's important: the Gamestop I went to told me I had to preorder to give me the code. They had a poster up (that looked official) that was phrased in a way that made it sound like you could only get the code for preordering. When I pressed them and showed them that the website said otherwise, they gave me shit about it, but eventually gave me a card anyway. :/

Also apparently I have heard (from postings online) that the people at that Phone number at Nintendo don't have codes, because it's a gamestop promotion, they can't do anything about it. :/
