I am honestly hoping to see "Marth" make it into the Smash 4 roster over Chrom. Don't get me wrong I liked Chrom in Awakening, the guy was an absolute bro (one of the kinder Lords the series has had to be sure). I just feel that "Marth" had a much more engaging story and personality with a phenomenal amount of backstory and character development that Chrom never had. Not to mention that "Marth" becomes as integral to the plot as Chrom does and was very close to edging out Chrom in the popularity poll in Japan.
Also of note is that if "Marth" makes the cut for Smash 4, it'll be a first for the Fire Emblem series in Smash Bros.* Personally, I just feel that there'd be more to "Marth" making the cut in Smash 4 as opposed to Chrom, and contrary to what may be assumed, there's enough to establish that "Marth" could be designed to not be a clone, as far as Awakening's canon is concerned.
That and the Amiibo trailer used "Marth" in the cutaway image detailing example of games/series using Amiibos. I find beyond coincidence that they would use "Marth's" likeness as opposed to Marth or Chrom, even moreso considering Smash 4 is to be the launch title for the Amiibos.
I don't hate Chrom, I love the fact that he's a Lord, but also a guy that you could chill with on a weekend, but I feel "Marth" would be a far more meaningful Smash 4 addition.
Plus the potential "Marth" Amiibo... *fanboying intensifies* I would die.

[spoilereb3]The first being that Lucina would make the first time Fire Emblem would have a playable female character in the Smash series. That and Sakurai has made several mentions that the roster has more females than any Smash title before it. This is too good an opportunity to pass up imo. Anyways...

On the topic of Amiibos: I will be broke thanks to Smash and the Amiibos therein alone. I am already planning on buying several--if not ALL of them--because I am a Smash fanatic and would love to have a collection of them. That and how they plan to work with Smash sounds interesting. As a competitive player I can't wait to see how they actually adjust to playstyle and controller inputs.
