OK so I've read more about this and this is a HUGE DEAL. Like a big time deal. It makes breeding for IVs much simpler, because instead of inheriting 3 IVs randomly from each parent, a pokemon will inherit FIVE IVs from a parent holding Destiny Knot.

This makes IV breeding much more straightforward, to the point where you don't have to do tons and tons of breeding to get a pokemon with perfect IVs.

Oh dang I thought it was 5 from each which would be 10/12.

Well, 5 total is still a lot better than 3 total.
