I"m really enjoying this game, I'm having an absolute blast. I have no idea what the hell O-powers are, I have it, people have explained them to me but I continue to just sorta stare at it and ignore it XD

it took some getting used to but I got the menus down, not really fond of the little dots on the bottom of the screen but when I realized X is still a thing it made life much easier for me personally.

I'm really enjoying how berries work this time around, since I was missing berries, and wasn't a big fan of berry pots, so while not quite like 3rd gen close enough for me. i have a couple of complaints about the game but am overall very happy personally.

Overall, I'm loving the new games.

It just has a different feel to it, like I'm playing one of the Gamecube games. I don't know if it makes the game feel more grand or what it is, but I like it. I also love the fact that I haven't had to level grind at all to this point (6 badges in... I think). Maybe that'll change when I get to the Elite Four, but I sure hope not. I will not miss grinding in Victory Road.

I haven't fished around in the menus too much, since I'm just trying to get through the story. They don't feel too bad from what I've seen. I do like that you can see which party members are compatible with TMs/HMs while going through the bag. And saving in a split second is quite nice.

I will say that there's one thing I don't like... Mr. Mime's animation. Creeps me the hell out.

For those confused about O powers: its kinda like the powers you could give out in b/w and 2. You click on a friend, toss them, say, HP restoring power and when they enter a battle next and have an injured pokemon in the lead spot, it'll heal that pokemon for a bit of health. The more you use them on friends (or yourself!), the more you can level them up. At least, that's what I'm gathering from sending out heals to everyone. :p


As far as the actual game goes, I'm loving it. Its definitely one of the darker, if not the darkest story we've gotten so far. I'm enjoying the roller skates a lot. Lumiose feels like a big city you could get lost in, filled with restaurants and specialty stores. I love Team Flare and their suits. And I feel like this is one ofthe stronger generations we've gotten in sometime. We didn't get useless filler Rattatas and Pidgeys for once! The cosmetic variations between a lot of the new Pokemon are cool, and the trainer customization and video clip thing you can do is -perfect- for the PPL.

Edit: If there's one thing that bugs me about the game, its that Super Training feels crippled for lefties. Unless I'm just doing it wrong. :p

About to head into the 5th gym. Gogoat, Lucario, Shelgon, Tyrantrum, Charizard, Vespiquen Lvs 47-50. Started having trouble giving a crap. There's 4 new Pokemon I actually like. So much fluff. As a French student for 8 years I'm completely over them shoving France in my face like it's a big deal. Was Unova this American? I think I remember them saying melting pot twice and Hollywood and Braviary, but other than that is was pretty neutral, right?

Lumiose City would be soooo much better if there was a constant minimap with your location highlighted and you had better control of the perspective.

Mega evolution feels super gimmicky. It sure is pretty, but over leveling really makes it unnecessary for the main game.

I keep finding things that were handled so much better in previous generations. Also what's the deal with key items being super inaccessible in this game? Do I even need a fishing rod if they aren't going to let me fish except in two spots (so far)? Can't use the dowsing machine in caves? That's where it's hard to find things!

Found grammatical errors. The game has a major bug. Seriously? This is supposed to be a finished product.

My love of my team and needing to finish this for PPL are really the only things keeping me invested. The fact that I can grind without looking at it helps. I think it's safe to say that this will be my last new Pokémon game unless the next one allows me to strangle every NPC with crappy dialogue.

Sorry to be such a downer guys. The berry mechanic is nice and the fast saving is neat even if it's pretty obvious they gimped aspects of the game in trade.

EDIT: Also, supposedly Nintendo and Game Freak are working on a fix for the bug.

Some interesting changes to breeding, this time. Power items still pass a stat from a parent, but if both parents are wearing one, the chance for each stat becomes 50%. Destiny Knot on one parent now causes the children to inherit 5 random stats from it's parents.

Pokemon caught in the Friend Safari always have at least 2 perfect IVs.

Most fun I've had with a Pokemon game since Red/Blue, and not having it all spoiled with the simultaneous release is definitely a factor.

I may have a Wonder Trade problem, though. I just... I just keep doing it. I get Scatterbugs and elemental monkeys for days... but I just keep doing it...
