My first thoughts at today's reveal: More mega evo's? Cool! Wait...wait...Mega-Garchomp? Crap, well...taking my ball and going ho- wait...Fairy immune to Dragon? Best. Day. EVER!
That news right there is absolutely phenomenal, now I'm just hoping Fairy types have the stats to stand up to Dragon types in the arena.
Additionally Steel losing resistances to two types (popular ones at that with particularly dangerous Pokemon mind you) was shocking. Never saw that coming, really, I expected Steel to maintain its defensive sturdiness in Gen 6.
Also, Fennekin's Evo learning a Psychic move is encouraging (maybe the trend of fire-fighting will finally be snapped). To top that all off we have a Pokemon with varying movepools depending on Gender, and fossil Pokemon which are throwing out some new type mixes to the bunch (Rock/Ice and Rock/Dragon).
And then the kicker, trainer customization beyond the scope of facial appearances and skin tone. That was a pleasant surprise that really appeals to me (because I absolutely love my character customization options in any game I play)
My only gripes are with the mega evo's actually. Mewtwo gets two Mega evos (for fan-service most likely) and that a ton of other Pokemon that didn't really need to have them are getting them (Garchomp being a good example given his base stats already). That said though, we don't know enough about how mega evolutions will influence stat spreads, so until then I'll wait to pass judgment on that in full.
My other concern is Mewtwo's mega evolutions being version exclusives, though I am going to assume the stone cane be traded between version as a hold item. If not...well after all this news I really don't have problem with GameFreak getting another 40 of my dollars when I buy Pokemon Y.
