General Question on Abilities

Mostly about how and when they activate. Obviously when you switch your pokemon in, their ability takes effect.

But what if I have a pokemon with Rivalry. He gets sent out against another Male pokemon, and thus raises his attack. The other trainer switches out to a female pokemon. Does the Attack boost remain, or does it silently drop?

Does Intimidate silently lower the attack of pokemon who switch in, or is it ONLY when I switch MY pokemon in who has it?

Maybe I'm still just braindead from the con.

I know for sure that Intimidate only activates when the Pokemon who has it switches in. Rivalry, I'm not 100% sure of. I'm looking around for an answer to that as we speak.

Ok, a quick look around, this is my understanding of Rivalry. If the attack target has the same gender as the attacker, the base power of the attack is increased. If the gender is different, the base power is decreased. 25% either way. Seems to me to be an attack by attack basis sort of deal. If I have that wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I'm pretty sure Intimidate lower's the opponent's Attack stat whether they switch in or you do and it sticks until they switch out.

Rivalry, on the otherhand, is silently raised and lowered based on the gender of your target.
