What's with all of the hate for Normal types?

I just have trouble buying that this thing is going to be a Flying type. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the only Flying type that doesn't have wings or some other obvious means of flight is Gyarados. I can't buy those ribbon deals giving this thing the ability to fly.

I think the problem with normal types is, well, I don't know, I feel like if they were gonna make a normal type Eeveelution, it'd look closer to Eevee than the other evolutions. Plus Healer-esque Pokemon aren't particularly good for singles, which is what most battles come down to. I wouldn't want a pretty Pokemon like that ending up never getting used.

My first thought on seeing Sylveon was it's gotta be normal with all those bows and no other obvious image connections to any of the remaining eevelution types. If so I think it's pretty unfortunate since Eevee base is normal. I agree with previous commenters (why is the dictionary flagging this word?) that Ground and Flying would have been cool but unlikely due to image. I'd love to see the Flying eevelution actually grow wings. That would be pretty sick.

The normal type Eevee... is Eevee! They have a perfect Normal-type Eeveelution, it's Eevee! WHY WOULD THEY MAKE A NORMAL TYPE?! AUGH NINTENDO
