So did you guys have the Magic events during PAX? Wish I'd known! Hope it was fun.
I've been playing Magic for at least 10+ years, though there have been long hiatuses in between periods of activity. I was around when cards didn't say "Haste," they said "This creature is not affected by summoning sickness."
I was around when Flanking was a big thing. Anyone else remember Flanking? Haha.
I haven't played regularly in several years now, I think the last time was just as Coldsnap was about to come out, way back in '06. My primary deck was a green/artifact deck, mostly elves and other smaller creatures, though IIRC I had at least one Verdant Force and/or Avatar of Might in there that would be seen occasionally.
I was actually totally unaware of the existence of MTG console games until I went to the booth at PAX, where I played the first few levels of [ix6k][url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic:_The_Gathering_-_Duels_of_the_Planeswalkers_2012x6k]Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012[/urlx6k][/ix6k] and really enjoyed it. They also gave me a special event foil [url=http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=220106x6k]Merfolk Mesmerist[/urlx6k] card, which was pretty awesome. One of the people working the booth told me that the game was actually available on Steam, which I was very excited about. I found it on Steam ([url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/49470/x6k]here[/urlx6k]), and while I was disappointed that it wasn't Mac-compatible, I figure I'll give everyone here a heads up. It was on sale until recently, but it's still pretty affordable - just 20 bucks for the game and all subsequent DLC expansions and deck packs. However, I was also able to find the game on the XBOX Live Market ([url=http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Magic-2012/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410b3fx6k]here[/urlx6k]), so I'll be buying it there and probably playing it this weekend.
