Depends on how many people we have. We can do a box of Dark Ascension for $20 with 8 people, or we'll crack 2 boxes with 16 people for about $19 a person. Which, for 6 packs, is a pretty damn good price for a second set. Statistically, you will have a higher chance of cracking a mythic rare in Dark Ascension than you will Innistrad, because the ratio of total rares to mythics is smaller. ...Can anyone say "New Soren?" And that one red spell they spoiled is really really sweet flavor for the set. I'm seeing R/B recur decks that run Faithless Looting.
For those who haven't seen, its draw 2 and discard 2 for R, with Flashback 2R. Absolutely brutal for recur decks.

First-turn double card cycle with 3-cost flashback? Holy balls, that's going to be a 4-of in most decks of proper color.

Oh, oh yes it will. Imagine that in WolfRunRamp right now. Kessig Wolf Run needs fuel and land drops to put the beat on your opponent, and if you have dead cards in your hand, including flashback burn spells, you can dump them for cheap and refresh your hand, while still having the mana to pay for your flashbacks and beef up with the Wolf Run. And dear god, splash red into Zombies and you've got graveyard fuel for big dudes like Skaab Goliath and Skaab Ruinator, or you can have recur zombies and use Gravedigger from M12 or Ghoulcaller's Chant from Innistrad to dump dudes with Faithless Looting and get them right back. Come to think of it, with Chant and Looting together in zombies, you get to grab more cards from your deck and keep cards in hand for RB. That's broke as hell and says "go screw yourself" to the color pie :D

It's pretty simple: My zombies enter the graveyard and then come back out, usually for more abuse of enters-play or leaves-play effects. In particular, my old EDH deck used [url=http://tinyurl.com/6pglszulg4]Thraximundar[/urllg4] as the general, and the deck was built to facilitate creature sacrifices in order to give him more pew-pew.

My current idea for this deck is to run him and his BFFs Sedris and Prince of Thralls, mix him into some cards from Scars and Innistrad blocks (maybe Zendikar too) and do the obvious. Of course, I still need to put together a preliminary deck list...

Phht, Wizards doesnt care about white weenies, its too busy stomping on blue control. Seriously, Innastrad made blue beatdown useable. Wizards hates blue control, and control is what blue does.

You guys are making me feel very old. I've been playing Magic since late '94. I still own a bunch of my Revised cards. Elder Dragon Highlander is super funny for me because I remember playing a terrible 5c deck with all the Elder Dragons in it.

Honestly though? I dislike Innistrad. The flavor of the set is fantastic but there's a ton of powercreep in a set that was supposed to see a reset. I'm not really excited about double sided cards with all the drawbacks considering they did flip cards twice already without impacting drafting or the need for sleeves or proxies. It's a tribal set with weird tribes and so few that they're super concentrated unlike Lorwynn or Onslaught (or Fallen Empires (I miss you Thallids <3 )). There's some interesting cards in it but I don't feel like it's worth my investment, especially while my Tempered Steel deck is still Type 2 legal and most of the Magic at my FLGS (Battlegrounds (and sometimes TJs) if you went to East last year) is EDH or Commander (Commander being the uber-competitive bastard cousin of EDH).

I will be bringing two of my EDH decks with me and I'd certainly love to play with anyone who wants to play since every player has their own deck, but I'm not interested in a Type 2 draft (I drafted Scars block at 3 stores 4 nights a week through the whole block and I'm sick of it.) I'm also not really interested in playing Type 2 at East and don't have a deck that can handle any other format for multiplayer.

Last I heard TJ's was handling all the PAX endorsed tourney Magic again this year. Stop by to see them. They're good people. Battlegrounds too, but I think they're just handiing a couple demos again this year.
