I can never wrap my head around how Nintendo manages to make something that doesn't look that much better than its predecessor or make something conceptually strange and still manage to make me want to buy one. It's not the games, the branding, the tech or even the Pokemon, but an impenetrable combination of pure Nintendo-ness that I can't stay away from. Nintendo is a hell of a drug.
