I had heard the severs were overtaxed from the Japanese launch alone. I wager that has something to do with it.

Yeah, I had a whale of a time trying to update my new Wii U on Christmas. Looks like the Wii U and 3DS were popular gifts this year... or Nintendo's network is garbage... or both.

It's both, things sold well and Nintendo already had IT positions open prior to this afaik. Things are back up now, but the apps are still on hold till further notice. :/

I've read some theories that (believe) the reason for the delay is that a lot of hack Pokemon are making it through.
