PAX Pokemon League

I just restarted White because I got to the flying badge around PAX East last year, and just.... stopped. So I'm beginning fresh! Oshawott is my my starter. His name is Pumprnickl. Lillipup is my second in command (of course), and his name is Sir Popscl. For the first time 'round, should I care about EVs and natures? I might just make sure they don't have an awful nature, but beyond that I'm thinking of just doing it for the story. For PAX, it'll be a whole other story.... I already got it aaaall planned out (;

yeah, I usually don't worry about EV training until I'm actually going somewhere with my team.

Nature's it's either way... I tend to capture the pokemon, look at their nature, and then try to build the moveset to that nature. sometimes it works... othertimes, not so much...

I'm glad our talk made you see the error in your ways. Don't bother worrying about the small stuff like Nature and EVs when you're just going through the story. Play with your favs and just accept you'll have to grind every now and again to get through certain gym leaders.

I will suggest though that when you can, catch yourself a Drilbur. That little guy saw me through some tough times throughout the game and his evolution is so freaking cool. I believe you can get him in the cave you have to go to after fighting the Gym Leader Clay.

You have it all planned out? Oh no. I'm picturing you with a team similar to the Shuckle Brigade of last year...except...STUNFISK!

I just got stuck in a rut - all my pokemon sucked and I was spending way too much time thinking about the "perfect team" the first way through, which I shouldn't have. Basically, the fun stopped, and that's when I realized I needed to get the game back in gear!

I'll probably still have a Shuckle team for East, but this year my main team going to be something quite different. Be excited. Maybe I'll try being a GL this year, who knows!

All the rules that apply to challengers also apply to gym leaders. There was talk of exceptions but I don't think any leader has taken advantage of their status. A team of Bidoofs would probably not be scrutinized though, since the rules are there to make things fair and fun, not to be strict.

My Shuckle team was technically against the rules. But they're goddamn Shuckle. Also, I only had four of them, and the PPL is filled with kind, accepting people who understand the need for a team like mine in their League.

For the record, I only won one battle, and that was because they let me.

My girlfriend, actually, is going to try and apply for a leader position for East '12 using a team that has all the same type of pokemon, though it does fit a theme beautifully. Hopefully it'll be allowed because I worked my ass off to make it for her, but if not, she has another team which will be equally adequate that I'm starting to work on by that time.
