Just throwing out an idea for this thread, because I think that the idea could work really well. And more pokemon battles are always better. But what if the reward for defeating a grunt was information about where their leader was at the con. LIke, they call the leader up and send the challenger towards his location. Obviously not foolproof as we all know how 'reliable' cell phone communication is, and its always much worse at the convention center, but just an idea, since it is hard to keep everyone together all the time.

A different idea is that these underlings could use the un-evolved forms of the Gym Leader's pokemon to allow the challenger a peek into what they are getting into with the Gym Leader. That way more different pokemon are being utilized by different people involved with PPL.

Just some cute little ideas thinking about the topic.
