Line Management

Here's where you can suggest things for the PPL to do!

Line Management

Postby Cocowoushi » Tue Dec 28, 2010 6:32 am

Guess I'll kick this forum off. Being as I was one of the challengers at PAX Prime last time, there was a consideral issue with "who goes next" during the PPL meet ups. My friend and I ended up taking roles to help the gym leaders out by making lists for who their next challenger was. However since the leader was busy battling they really didn't have much time to organize the list themselves.

I think we should throw around some ideas of how to make this run a bit smoother. Should we stick with written lists on a first come, first service basis? Could the E4 be in charge of these lists during PPL meetups for the first 2 days, then Gym Leaders handle the E4 lists on the last day?

Any thoughts?

Noted. I really only noticed a problem with swarms of people at the meet-ups themselves - when I was just wandering around the con, the most I had was three challengers waiting, and they organized themselves pretty well.

I think the easiest solution to this is for leaders to carry around some paper and pen with them, so they can do exactly what you said - people can add their names themselves and all the leader would have to do is read the top one off.

Leaders doing that themselves seems easiest. And if we do the 10 Gym Leaders, you needing only 4 badges to challenge the Elite 4, I think it's going to be a lot less of a hassle for everyone involved.

Heh - don't hold your breath for only needing 4 badges. ;-)

Yeah, the line management was a bit of an issue at Prime that I wasn't sure we would have to worry about (but alas we did) and I want to say THANK YOU for making lists. That was a simple no brainer idea what I was so frazzled I wouldn't think of.

I know for Prime next year, I'll require that all the gym leaders have some sort of notepad like device for such occasions.

ALSO having more gym leaders will help, which again I will be sure to have happen at PPL Prime next year.

Yes, meetIng leaders around the con wasn't an issue. It was when a leader showed up at the PPL meet up and 8 people jump them at once. Whole you're battling the last thing you're really concerned about is the list so hopefully some people will be willing to help write stuff down as well.

The plan I came up with is printing out like 15 buisness cards (to be on the safe side) and numbering them 1-15 and giving them to challengers as they came up to me and calling them up in order, much like a Poké-Deli.

I would make at least 3 sets of these cards, one for each day, in case people walk off with them. (Psychic paper business cards, perhaps? ;p )

This is maybe the most wonderful and horrifying thing I have heard all day.

Ha! Yes. They'd all be blank.

Having some numbered slips of paper and handing them out would probably work pretty well.
