As far as I know HG/SS work with the DS battle mode on [url=http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii/pokemon-battle-revolution7dv]Battle Revolution[/url7dv] for the Wii. Perhaps if any leaders decide to park somewhere and take challenges they could set up the game in the Console Open Play room.

We've actually been considering this idea. Especially for the elite four or a champion. I would have considered it, but I almost feel bad about hogging a wii for that long, but that's just me.
It's definately something we're looking into though

If we could find an outlet and a projector (or personal TV) then we could proally just do it in the handheld lounge. I know a couple years back you could find those sort of things at Prime, Rock Band, Mario Kart, etc especially later a night where there weren't as many people and not much to do. Depending on how many Wii's/copies of PBR/TV's/Projectors we can "acquire" this could be pretty cool.

That would be sweet to have our matches broadcast, like the TV Pokemon League matches are.

I'd love to see championship battles on a big screen. Anything else would be too chaotic.

yeah, and it'd be even better if we could get someone to be an announcer for the match.
if this happens at PRIME, dibs.

What would be the difficulty rating of hooking a Wii up to a laptop and broadcasting a live stream?
If you want to go crazy, then you could put the whole rig in a fake TV camera and have someone dress up like this:

I'd rate the live streaming as very high difficulty. You would probably need a smorgasbord of programs just to get a live feed onto a laptop and I have no idea how one could get a good enough internet connection to broadcast it. Maybe someone could post live updates with a live blog thing, or maybe (would need permission) if it was allowed you could use a capture card/laptop to get the footage and post it later. I like the idea of viral matches though.
If you guys pull this off, who do you think should be having matches on it? Any and all gym leaders? Champion battles only? Doing the Champion's tournament on a big screen for everyone to see might be exciting.

Live streaming is incredibly easy - point a webcam at the TV and give the announcer a Mic that overrides the webcam's sound.
In fact, that sounds awesome!

That does sound awesome, but how will you get enough intertubes in there to stream? That takes plenty of bandwidth. My only ideas are Clearwire (iffy, needs outlet on its own) or hooking a laptop up to a 3/4g phone and using that. And the mic also sounds cool, and difficult. There's probably programs that allow audio priority but the bandwidth is still a concern. I do know a lot of live-streaming news stories have a live blog-type thing that reporters frequently update. That could maybe work for announcers also. Hate to be devil's advocate, just trying to be practical/make sure this works awesomely.
