Here it is! Your final message from Alexander about the nefarious plot that may be threatening the Pokémon Advancement Expo! With your help, I’m sure we can get to the bottom of this.

If you manage to figure out who’s behind this, come let me know, as I have been authorized by the PokéNobel Committee to present you with this honorary (and very shiny) PokéNobel Prize*:

Challenger of the PAX Pokémon League,

As promised, I am entrusting you with confidential profiles of the 6 Targets of Interest (TOI) in our ongoing investigation of the scientist gathering in the PAX Pokémon League at the Pokémon Advancement Exposition. I stress to you that while these scientists are considered TOI, there is no evidence at this time that they have committed any crime, or are conspiring to do such, and thus they should be approached appropriately. In other words, don’t levy accusations on them. We need their information to determine the identity of the real target of this investigation: the benefactor that has gathered these scientists.

Once again, let me remind you that all that is required is for you to inquire about the Mega Pokémon studies of any of TOI that you encounter, and that questioning 4 of the 6 TOI should be provide sufficient intel to identify our target.

(In case you weren’t aware: every evening of PAX, in the Handheld Lounge, we’ll be raffling off a whole bunch of fabulous prizes! If you’ve earned a Raffle Ticket by completing the MegaBingo board on the back of your card, you can choose to use it to enter that evening’s raffle. We’ll draw from all the collected raffle tickets to choose who wins each prize! Keep in mind, though, that we start the raffle fresh each day, so if you use your Raffle Ticket on Friday, you can’t enter on Saturday or Sunday! Also, you have to be physically present at the raffle to win a prize! [We’re doing three separate Raffles so that even if you’re only at PAX for one day, you still have a chance to win!])

The Field Guide to Kanto books are GORGEOUS. We, the Research Department at PPL, keep personal copies on our desks for reference at all times! Not even Professor Oak himself has done such faithful yet artistic representations of the 151 species found in the Kanto region, and the information in the book is invaluable for any Pokémon Researcher worth her salt.

In a previous update, we talked about this year’s MegaBingo challenge, where you can earn a sticker for each Mega-Evolution you spot a Gym Leader using during battle… and that if you get four stickers in a row, you can come to myself or Researcher Kim to be awarded a Prize Pin and a Raffle Ticket (which are both Key Items, by the way)! What are those Tickets for, you ask? Why, they’re for entering the PPL MegaBingo Prize Raffle!

The PAX Pokémon League East is proud to present the designs for this year’s Trainer Cards!

Everyone attending the Pokémon Advancement Expo will, after their first Gym Leader battle, will be awarded their very own Trainer Card! In addition to being a nice memento of your PAX Pokémon League journey, each trainer card shows Gym Leaders recommended for you to battle and the badge you’ll earn if you defeat them! (Of course you can battle any leader, not just those on your card.)

On the back of the card is info about the League, such as contact information and Meetup times!

Also on the back of the cards you’ll find your Pokémon Advancement Expo MegaBingo Board!

As a visitor to the Pokemon Advancement Expo, you’ll be mingling and battling with Gym Leaders who are some of the top names in Pokemon Evolution Research! As such, you may spot them using Mega Evolution in battles! On the back of your trainer card, you’ll find a MegaBingo board. If you spot a gym leader using a Mega Evolution with the trait shown on your bingo board, ask them for a sticker! Collect four stickers in a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) and bring your card to myself (Researcher Propriety) or Researcher Kim. Show us your collected evolutionary observations to receive a Prize Pin (while supplies last), and a Raffle Ticket!

Thanks to discerning challenger eyes, it has been brought to our attention that there was an error in the rule set! Team Preview cannot be turned off, and thus will not be required to be turned off (of course). We apologize for this oversight (our planning committee inserted that provisionally before X and Y came out).

Additionally, due to cries of unfair treatment from the Wormadam lobby, the Meowstic exception to the species rule has been revoked. Sorry, Meowstic lovers!

Greetings all!

After a long, long debate, lots of late nights, and thousands of test-battles, our gym leaders have come up with our Rules update for East 2014! Check out the Rules page for the full rules, but here’s a short rundown of what has changed:

• We’ll be using Pokémon X/Y this year.
• IR Battle is now called “Battle with Someone Nearby (Infared).” It’s still the mode we’re using though.
• There’s now an exception to the species clause. Leaders may allow exceptions for quirky “All one Species” teams.
• Weather teams are now allowed, due to weather being limited.
• Wonder Launcher is no longer an option, so that rule has been removed.
• Blazikens with Speed Boost are not allowed.
• Xerneas and Yveltal have been added to the banned list.
• Zygarde has been added to the limited list.
• We’ve added a clause that bans endless battle (because it’s annoying and nobody’s got time for that nonsense).
• Kangaskhanite, Gengarite, Mewtwonite X, Mewtwonite Y, and Blazikenite, have been banned. More on this later.

We know this may be a bit controversial, but we’ve done our best to adjust the rules to keep things fun.
